About Me

Hello there and welcome to From T-rex to Tigress. So glad you stopped by! Allow me to give you a little background about the name I have chosen for my blog as you must be wondering about the meaning behind it. My name is Charlotte and I’m simply an average woman on a quest to become fitter and healthier, but with a twist. Can I transform my pear-shaped body from t-rex to tigress with the right diet and exercise? Or is it just a matter of genetics and this is an impossible feat? You see, my mother is a pear shape too. I call my present body shape a t-rex because this dinosaur was also a pear shape, built with a tiny upper body and heavy lower body. However, this never stopped this carnivorous powerhouse from being on top of the food chain and out-running its prey. Must have been those powerful legs! No disrespect to the t-rex, but my ambition is to become a tigress, with a more balanced body and muscular proportions, especially more width in the shoulders and upper back. The most frustrating part of being a pear shape is my inability to find a pair of jeans that fit me comfortably. I’m totally serious! Usually the waist is far too big, but the hip region is far too snug.

Do these claws look good with these saddlebags?
Do these saddle bags look good with these claws?

Common Features of the T-Rex Body:

  • Small bust line and shoulders
  • Poor posture
  • Delicate, tiny wrists comparable in size to a child’s (I’ve done the wrap around test.)
  • Lanky and lean up top, holds weight/fat in the thigh region, but often with a smaller waist and flat stomach
  • Poor upper body strength, yet tremendous leg strength. I can squat like nobody’s business, but find push-ups, pull-ups and press-ups difficult
  • Sharp teeth made for tearing up plant-eaters

I aim to become a tigress through eating a clean diet of less processed foods and more fresh, nutrient-filled foods and applying a weight training program that will add mass to my upper body. I have discovered that a routine of heavy weight training transforms the body like no other form of physical activity. I am not afraid of heavy lifting, getting bulky and love the look of a muscular physique. For the lower body, a lot of cardio and endurance training will be on the agenda. All of you fitness bloggers out in the blogosphere, I welcome your comments, fitness tips and advice. I know I will never have Angela Bassette’s arms or Monica Brant’s shoulders, but if I could work towards a tiny fraction of what these ladies have, I’ll be happy.  I do realize that this will not be an easy quest, but have many challenges ahead. I am known to love my wine and decadent desserts. However, I think blogging about it will hold me accountable and will lead to connecting with encouraging people who may be on their own personal journey to live a healthier life.

I aim to inspire through true stories from my own experiences and other men and women on their own personal fitness quests. I myself have tried many diet fads from no carbs, low carbs, no dairy, and all of the above but Atkins usually ended up making me a Fatkins. Now my philosophy is a little more simple. Enjoy all the foods that life has to offer in moderation and never stop dancing, running, zumbaing or whatever it is you just do to stay active. I am not an expert or professional in the fitness industry. I don’t consider myself to be a healthy living blogger. I’m just a person trying to live a healthier life one day at a time. I hope you enjoy reading my posts and gain some inspiration, insight and hopefully a few chuckles too. If I can help one reader, then this blog will be so worth it. Hope you enjoy.

  1. Ah yeh… I know this too well. Finding jean’s that fit my legs but are not too big around the waist. I wear leggings most of the time, because jeans are simply too uncomfortable. Also trying to get those legs thinner. I think running helps a little 🙂

  2. Thank you for the blessing of your visit, I am quite sure I will learn some things while visiting your site, Tigress, I think you will be able to accomplish that change, you know mind over matter, what you stick to, a little hard work and you will achieve your dream and more! Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!

      1. So grateful you are not following fad diets. As you know the only good diet is one that can be maintained for a lifetime. Eating sensibly as you’ve indicated is best! Well done. As a nutritional counselor, along with prescribing nutritional sense, I enjoy finding out why patients self-destructed when most people know what to do already. (People are fascinating and I so enjoy motivating toward authentic health, not fads!) Gotta follow and keep praying you are ready for success. Blessings,
