Trex to Tigress Tidbits

Welcome once again to Trex to Tigress tidbits. The post about, you got it, nothing. Well, let’s just say there is no specific topic involved.

Throwing my Weight Around
I arrived back to Toronto feeling sluggish the next day. There was a major delay in ATL, our stop over, so we were stuck in the airport for hours. So what did I do besides reading? Made bad food choices. I suppose it was out of boredom. I ate mini candy Hersey’s Kisses, greasy fries, a cheesy burger and drank pop (soda for you Americans.) I NEVER drink pop, so I must have been tres bored. I seem to do that a lot when I am bored in an airport. Thank goodness I don’t travel often. However, during the vacation, I didn’t have that old, I am on vacation so I can let it all go attitude. I ate a lot of fresh seafood, mango, pineapple and Jicama. I also drank tons of water, pure aloe vera juice and drank very little alcohol. I did my hotel room workouts, courtesy of Man Bicep and also took the stairs up to my room. (we were on the ninth floor, so not too shabby if I do say so myself.) I took long walks on the beach with my friend Janiece, and walking in sand is no easy feat, on those feet….get it? Not funny? Moving right along. The day after arriving home, I wanted to go to the gym, but did not. I did laundry, cleaning, unpacking and sorting of bills. I also gave the fridge a good cleaning and threw away food that had green, fuzzy things growing on them. Scrubbing of floors and appliances is a good arm workout. That Mr. Miyagi of the Karate kid was onto something with his wax on, wax off business. The next day, I did hit the gym weight room floor and had a great and energizing back and bicep workout. I realized just how much I missed and love weight training.

I also went to Insanity this week and will continue attending. This class is like that new series hosted by The Rock on Slice TV, “it tests my physical and mental limitations.” (Love that Rock.) I usually enter the class feeling a little fearful. How will I do? Will I have the stuff to complete the class? What if it’s too hard? These are just a few questions circling in my head as I enter the studio. Insanity tests my stamina like never before. Never would I have attempted a shoulder push up without this class, all those burpees and push ups. It is very intense in the cardio component, with knee-high drills, jumping jacks, and jump squats, but I will only do it once a week so as not to eat away at my muscle-building goals. It may seem insane, but I love Insanity.

Year Progress Photos and Measure Results
My year progress photos are approaching the first week of August. That will make it a year ago that I started this blog. I am a little uneasy. I still don’t see much changes in my upper body, and upper body mass is my main goal. I am stronger in my upper body without a doubt. A year ago, I couldn’t do one standard man push up, now I can do ten without stopping, fifteen on a good day.  However,  I don’t physically see the changes. Me thinks the lady doth protest too much! Stay tuned….

What I learned on the Beach
Wearing your skimpy Brazilian thong is not about looking good on the outside, it’s about feeling good on the inside. Don’t you agree? I saw shapes and forms of all sizes. Big backsides, small bums, thick legs, chicken legs, spaghetti arms and muscled up arms, heavily endowed ladies, small bosoms, big stomachs and muffins tops as well as some amazing six packs, but guess what? Everyone of them sported a bikini or bathing suit. Not a mou-mou or cover up to be found! I still feel a tad uncomfortable wearing a bikini, and it is all in my head and having a poor body image as I have mentioned before. No matter how much you workout and try to feel better about yourself, if you have not mentally fixed this internal issue, whether you are a size 4 or 24, you will not feel good in revealing beach wear.  Confidence is the key and I think all these ladies looked beautiful and wore it well.

Well, I am going to do it. Here I am in my beach wear, feeling not especially confident, but trust me, this is a HUGE step in the right direction for me if you read this post. I believe it is an essential part of self-love, self-acceptance and internal growth.

Love your body no matter what. It's the only one you have.

    1. Thanks so much, Jennifer. Do you know how hard it was for me to take that photo? In the end it was so liberating to just let go and be happy with myself, flaws or no flaws!
